Our family welcomes you to Civic Hotel Seattle, a vibrant and intimate boutique hotel that combines the polish of a luxury property with the comfort of your neighborhood hangout. One of the few family-owned and operated properties remaining in the Emerald City, the Civic Hotel was reborn in 2019 from a design originally conceived for the 1962 World’s Fair. We honor Space Age optimism with our own spirit of innovation. Join us as we build our own “world of tomorrow.”
An extensive renovation has given new life to the Civic Hotel, one of Seattle’s oldest boutique hotel properties still in operation. The three year construction project highlights the hotel founder’s commitment to preserving the building’s mid-century’s elements – both inside and out. Maintaining aesthetic consistency with the era, veneer plywood, steel rod frames, and colored laminates were selected to accent the guest rooms. And custom-formulated built-in furniture pieces – a joint effort by architectural firm Wittman-Estes and hotel co-founder Neha Nariya – such as bespoke bedframes and bureau/desk combos – tailor these design elements to our modern needs.
Civic Hotel’s central location – at the intersection of 7th Avenue and Harrison St. – is steps away from the Space Needle and mere blocks from Pike’s Place Market and Seattle’s downtown shopping district. We are surrounded by shops, restaurants, and nightlife that offer and ideal introduction to our city. And for travelers looking to explore a bit more, we’re also a convenient gateway to Seattle’s diverse neighborhoods, flavors, and experiences.
We’ve taken care of all the details. From the comforts you expect – bespoke minibar offerings, luxury bath and body products from Five Wits, a gallery-style collection of original art from artist Melanie Biehle, and seriously comfortable mattresses. To the conveniences that surprise you – abundant in-room charging stations, Apolis tote bags for your shopping excursions, and eco-friendly water refillers on every floor. Each of our guest rooms embodies our version of hospitality – classic luxury, irreverent formality, curated modernity – equal parts new age creativity and old-world elegance, served with unconventional, unapologetic attitude and style.
We partnered with some of our best friends, and Seattle’s brightest minds, to introduce you to local artists, makers and products before you even leave the hotel. Discover Melanie Biehle’s stunning urban abstractions on a self-guided gallery tour – from your room to the elevator. Stay out of the (occasional) rain in style with Certain Standard’s colorful and sustainably manufactured umbrellas. Customize your minibar with Theo’s fair-trade, artisanal chocolates, Glassy Baby’s hand-blown votive candle holders, and DRY Soda’s naturally flavored and botanically inspired beverages. Or reserve the Macklemore Room, which pays tribute to Seattle’s legendary music scene, and imagine yourself in the music video he filmed there.
We invite everyone to experience what makes the Civic Hotel Seattle so unique firsthand – whether you’re visiting from afar or you’re a member of the community right here. Currently, we’re offering a special friends and family offer for residents of Seattle proper. If you live next door or need a place to host visiting family, check in to our hotel at a special rate.
